Alfred Murdoch
Alfred James (Fred) Murdoch (1877–1960) was an New Zealand politician, first as an Independent Liberal (Wood, p. 89) then of the United Party, and from 1943 the National Party. He was Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Mines from 1930 to 1931 in the United Government of New Zealand.
He represented the Marsden electorate in Northland from 1922 to 1925 when he was defeated by William Jones of Reform. He won the seat back in 1928 but lost it in 1935 to James Barclay of Labour. In 1943 he again won the seat back, and helt it until he retired in 1954.
